ME

Are you a fun teacher?
I think I am an enthusiastic teacher who believes in an engaging approach to education. I present facts, ask questions, and encourage lively discussions, fostering critical thinking skills in my students. My classes integrate personal experiences, interests, and stories into the learning process, allowing students to connect technical skills to their own passions. For instance, in an essay class, students may craft a persuasive piece on anything from the benefits of video games to the superiority of chocolate ice cream. Similarly, in a computer class, students can develop a PowerPoint presentation on a topic close to their hearts, such as their hobbies or family history. This approach not only imparts technical skills but also ensures that students are deeply engaged in the learning process.

I love sharing topics that I am passionate about with my students, and I enjoy hearing their opinions, even if they disagree with me. I am constantly learning from them. I truly love teaching young people and appreciate the freedom that homeschooling provides. CLASS CREDIT

Are your classes “for credit”?
Each class description includes the credits the class will satisfy (High School and some Eighth grade). If you have further questions, I’d love to talk to you.

Will I receive a syllabus for my student’s class?
Yes. Parents will receive a class syllabus and “scope and sequence” for their child’s class.

Do you provide grades?
Yes, each class has a breakdown of percentages for different types of assigned work: homework, tests, projects, and quizzes, depending on the class. I will provide final grades as a percentage, and parents can determine the corresponding letter grade. If needed, grades will be given out quarterly, and students will receive a final grade at the end of the term.

We have an accountability association. Do you report to them?
No, I do not. However, I will be happy to provide whatever documentation your accountability association requires of you.

Do any of your classes have an Honors version?
Yes. Many literature, civics, and art classes for High School have an Honors version, and we can discuss this when a class is selected.

CLASS FEES
What are your class fees?
Unless noted in the class description, all classes are $25 per 90-minute per week for 30 classes. Most courses have an additional one-time $10 copy fee.

Is everything included in the class fee?
Yes, with just a few exceptions.
Literature Classes—Unless otherwise noted in the class description, students must purchase their copies of books we read in Literature classes. Students may use digital books or audiobooks as an alternative to hard copies.
Computer and digital related classes-
Students to purchase their own devices and software. (I can assist you in selecting these purchases if necessary.)
Art and Art History classes: These classes may involve an additional supply fee, depending on the required supplies and whether the student already owns art materials.

How can I pay you?
Fees may be paid weekly or monthly by cash, check, Venmo, or PayPal. If it is more convenient, you may also pay yearly.

Can you provide receipts for class payments?
Of course! I can send you a receipt weekly, monthly, or yearly.

PRIVACY
What personal information will I need to provide for my child?
None.
Your family’s privacy is important to me. I only require a parent’s email address and phone number for communication purposes. I will never ask for your child’s contact information, email, or text your child. For virtual classes, the class invitation will be sent to the parent’s email address.

I do not connect with students on social media platforms such as Facebook or Instagram. Additionally, I do not share photos of my students on any social media platform or business website.

CLASS MEETINGS
Yes! I can come to your home for class. If it is more convenient, I can meet you and your student at a local facility, such as a library, community center, or even a park!
Please note - I can not meet with your student without an adult, either at home or on location.

Do you offer virtual classes?
Yes, classes can be taken virtually! All of my classes are offered through the ZO-HO platform. This platform is free and safe, and it doesn't require you to download any software or apps. Your student will receive an invitation to join the class meeting for each session, and parents are always included in the meeting invitation.
Meeting your student virtually is a great option for families with several children at home, no need to pack up the baby for their sibling’s class!

Are all classes once weekly?
Yes, and no. Most classes meet weekly. If parents would like to schedule classes more frequently, we can discuss this when a class is selected.

Are all of your classes offered at a set day and time each week?
I will work around your family's schedule! If you are the first to register your student for a class, I will try to find a day and time that works for you. If another family is interested in the same class, they may join if it works for you. You can also have your student in a class on their own. If you're interested in a class that's already scheduled but can't make it, I'll do my best to find a different time for your own class. If you have any scheduling questions, feel free to contact me.

Do you have a set “school term”?
Classes typically run for 30 weeks, from August to June, with a break in December and a short Spring Break. However, homeschooling families can set their own schedules, so I am flexible and willing to accommodate your preferred schedule. We can discuss this further once a class has been selected.

Can my student begin a class after August?
Yes, I can accommodate your schedule. If a class is labeled as a "High School full-year, one-credit course," I'm willing to arrange for multiple classes per week if needed to help your child complete the course as required.

What if my student misses a class?
It would be easiest if you let me know in advance if your student will be absent. However, I understand that life happens, so if your student needs to miss a class, I will work with you to reschedule it as soon as possible. If your student is going to be absent for an extended time, we can consider virtual meetings.

Do you take field trips?
Yes, I love a good field trip! I try to organize trips to places like art museums for art classes and county and city buildings for government classes. Parents are required to attend these trips with their students. Field trips may involve additional fees to cover admission and tickets.

May I “sit in“ in my student’s class?
Of course, you may! I welcome parents to listen in to class. This is helpful when students study during the week.
